If you want to learn low-latency and high-performance programming, here’s what you should do to get started πŸ‘‡β€

  1. pick a language that offers low-level primitives - C, Java, Golang
  2. explore the following paradigms
  • concurrency
  • system calls
  • multi-core programming
  • non-blocking IO
  1. write a lot, a lot, of code for manufactured scenarios
  2. write tests that ensure correctness
  3. benchmark under load and ensure it passes the correctness test

It is easy to write incorrect concurrent code and you’d feel like a genius thinking about the efficiency and speed. The tricky part is to write high-performant concurrent code and hence tests are super important.

if you are into engineering, you might find my YT interesting. currently, I am running a series on BitTorrent internals and will be diving deep into Choke Algorithm, Distributed Hash Tables, Piece Selection Algorithm, and much more.
